The teen has also been charged with firing a gun, causing property damage, arson and theft on the same night in the city's Cathedral neighbourhood.
Wells was 48 when he died.

At 3:35 a.m. CST on Oct. 22, police were called to a house on the 1500 block of Robinson Street, where they found Wells. He was declared dead at the scene.

Shortly after, at approximately 3:40 a.m., police officers were called to an apartment on the 2200 block of Robinson Street, where a gun had apparently been fired into the balcony doors, which were shattered. No one in the apartment was injured.
