Violence strikes again in Chicago :1 killed, 2 injured in shootings

A man died after being shot in West Englewood and two others were injured in separate shootings on Monday, police said. 

The fatal shooting was at 9:50 a.m., when a 35-year-old man was shot while driving near 69th Street and Marshfield Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The wounded man continued driving until his vehicle came to rest in the 6900 block of South Paulina Street, Pacheco said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, Pacheco said.

At about 7:15 p.m., a 19-year-old man went to Mount Sinai Hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the finger, police said. It occurred in the 8800 block of South Wallace Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood, police said. He was listed in good condition.

At 7:40 a.m., a 27-year-old man was injured in the Princeton Park neighborhood, on the 9400 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the Princeton Park neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.

He was getting into a vehicle in the 9400 block of South Wentworth Avenue when someone shot him in the left shoulder. Someone took him to Roseland Hospital and his condition was stabilized.
